PANTERA merupakan salah satu band Heavy Metal terkenal di dunia, selain
itu mereka juga mengusung genre groove metal dan glam metal dulunya, yang pasti
merekalah salah satu pelopor aliran musik groove metal. Terbentuk pada tahun
1981 dan berasal dari Arlington, Texas, Amerika Serikat. Awal mula terbentuk
Pantera tidak terkenal selama 9 tahun, setelah merilis album "Cowboys From Hell"
dengan lagu hits "Walk" band ini menjadi populer. PANTERA bubar pada tahun 2003
karena masalah perselisihan pribadi dengan anggotanya sendiri dan pada tahun
2004, sang gitaris "Dimebag Darrell" meninggal akibat tembakan di atas panggung
saat sedang melakukan konsernya bersama grup musik terbarunya yaitu
"Damageplan". Walaupun begitu lagu-lagu PanterA masih didengarkan dan disukai
sampai sekarang. Berkat lima album terakhirnya, PanterA menjadi salah satu grup
musik heavy metal terbaik di dunia.
