Nama mereka berasal dari sebuah judul di sebuah koran tentang pemain hoki Mario Lemieux kembali ke NHL. Band Comeback Kid dibentuk pada tahun 2000 oleh Andrew Neufeld dan Jeremy Hiebert yang merupakan anggota band Figure Four, yang saat ini berada di Hiatus. Mereka bergabung dengan teman mereka Scott Wade dan Kyle Profeta, namun CBK awalnya hanya dimaksudkan untuk menjadi proyek sampingan. Setelah melepaskan album Turn It Around pada catatan Facedown Records pada tahun 2003, Comeback mulai berkeliling penuh waktu, mencakup sebagian besar Amerika Utara dan juga Eropa. Mereka juga muncul di banyak festival Hardcore Punk yang tinggi seperti Festival Hellfest dan Posi Numbers.
