Chimaira merupakan band groove metal / heavy metal Amerika dari Cleveland, Ohio. Dibentuk pada bulan Agustus 1998, kelompok ini adalah bagian dari anggota New Wave of American Heavy Metal. Musik Chimaira dianggap Nu Metal (di album mereka sebelumnya), groove metal dan metalcore, dengan unsur-unsur death metal, thrash metal, hardcore punk, industrial metal. Nama band ini berasal dari kata Chimera, Makhluk monstrous dalam mitologi Yunani. Sepanjang sejarahnya, band CHIMAIRA memiliki banyak perubahan line up, meninggalkan vokalis Mark Hunter sebagai satu-satunya anggota konstan. Band ini bubar pada tahun 2014, namun mengumumkan reuni satu kali pada akhir 2017.

Diskografi: Peluncuran pertama Chimaira adalah sebuah extended play, This Present Darkness, yang menjual 10.000 eksemplar. Setelah masuk Roadrunner Records, Album studio debut band ini, Pass Out of Existence, dirilis pada bulan Agustus 2001. Sebuah album studio kedua, The Impossibility of Reason, Diikuti pada tahun 2003, debut dan memuncak di nomor 117 di Billboard 200. Herrick digantikan oleh Drummer Kevin Talley, sebelumnya dari Misery Index, Pada tahun 2004. Sebuah album video, The Dehumanizing Process, Tiba akhir tahun itu, mendokumentasikan proses penulisan dan rekaman di belakang The Impossibility of Reason, album tersebut sukses dengan menjual lebih dari 200,000 kopi lebih. Chimaira merilis album self-titled di bulan Agustus 2005, yang memuncak nomor nomor 74 di Billboard 200. Setelah krisis internal karena tekanan dari label oleh rilis baru, band ini beralih dari Roadrunner dan menandatangani sebuah kesepakatan baru dengan Ferret Music.
